2004 saw a reimagining of Sid Meier’s Pirates! on the PC, as well as the Xbox. Now it seems the game is headed for another platform: the PSP. 2K Games and Firaxis Games have announced that the game will be released for the PSP on February 23, 2007.
In Sid Meier’s Pirates!, a strategy/adventure game, players take the role of a Pirate Captain in the 17th century Caribbean – amassing fortune and fame in an attempt to seize a rightful place as one of the most revered and feared pirates in history. Players test their skills as a sea captain exploring the high seas and dueling in land and sea battles in a richly detailed 3D world. Additional features for the PSP system include wireless Ad-Hoc multiplayer for up to four players, widescreen graphics, new treasure hunts and more.
2K Games sends word that it will release Civilization Chronicles, the “definite Civilization collector’s edition”, combining all the games in the series in one behemoth compilation.
The set will include Sid Meier’s Civilization I, Civilization II, Civilization II: Fantastic Worlds, Civilization II: Conflicts in Civilization, Civilization II: Test of Time, Civilization III, Civilization III: Play the World, Civilization III: Conquests and Civilization IV.
In addition, the compilation will also include The Card Game, an original tabletop card game designed by Civilization IV lead designer Soren Johnson, featuring more than 250 custom cards and rules based on Civilization IV; the Chronicles of Civilization, a 96-page book containing the history of the franchise, as told through interviews with past Civilization designers, an interview with Sid Meier, and more; a video DVD featuring presentations about the creation of Civilization IV; and more including printed tech tree posters from each game, wallpapers and podcast MP3s.
Sid Meier’s Civilization Chronicles will be released next month for $70.
As its third and final announcement, 2K Games announced the next title in the Railroad Tycoon franchise – Sid Meier’s Railroads!
The Golden Age of railroading is back with Sid Meier’s Railroads! Combining the best of real-world and model railroads, Sid Meier’s Railroads! puts you in charge of building your own railroad empire, running everything from steam-powered locomotives to more modern diesel and electric trains, managing cargo and your bottom line, all while engaging in corporate warfare against rival tycoons, slick entrepreneurs and robber barons.
Cities and industries grow up around you as Sid Meier’s Railroads! enables players to lay track and route trains, haul raw materials to market and carry manufactured goods throughout the land. Sid Meier’s Railroads! introduces a large number of different single-player game scenarios and a variety of play modes including the “sand-box” modeling mode, real-time LAN and Internet play.
Railroads! will be released for the PC this Fall.
