The second game to come out from the Sega-Aliens deal is a next-gen RPG being made by Obsidian Entertainment, the people awesome RPGs like Star Wars KOTOR II and Neverwinter Nights 2.
In the works for the PC and unspecified consoles, the Aliens RPG will “build upon the distinctive look and feel of the original films while utilizing next-generation technology to create an entirely different and unique Alien experience,” according to the press release.
So why Obsidian? “With Obsidian Entertainment’s development pedigree, they were our first choice to bring the Alien franchise to the RPG universe,” said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America, Inc. “They are the only developer for us that could effectively combine the Alien mythology with compelling RPG gameplay to create the ultimate Alien experience.”
No release date was mentioned.
Neverwinter Nights 2 is set to get a special limited edition version like other games, offering bonus items. Already available for pre-order, the limited edition offers:
- A powerful new feat called Blessed of Waukeen will grant a bonus to all saving throws, two special items, access to a unique weapon, and a magical golden aura that surrounds players’ characters.
- Detailed cloth map showing in-game locations
- Book of art, depicting characters and scenes from the game
- Two silver antique rings: Good & Evil
The game is set for release next month.
To make pre-ordering Neverwinter Nights 2 sweet, Atari has announced that those who pre-order the title at GameStop and Best Buy will be entitled to exclusive access to the game’s toolset one month before it’s released. Additionally, the offer also includes The Merchant’s Friend, a special feature enabling players to obtain powerful items crafted especially for the game’s 12 classes.
Set for release this October, a more robust toolset will be included with the final release of Neverwinter Nights 2.
