Kojima Productions at Leipzig

The Games Convention at Leipzig, Germany is shaping up to be quite a treat this year. To be held from August 23 to 27, the convention will see Kojima Productions present five games from the Japanese studio: four Metal Gear titles and Lunar Knights for DS.

Located in Hall 5, Booth F02, Konami will be showcasing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PS3 via a video trailer. It is not known whether it will be the E3 trailer, or a completely new one. Visitors to the convention will also be able to check out Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, a three-disc re-release of the PS2 classic, as well as Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel and Portable Ops, their two new PSP titles.

The Konami stand will also be host to Lunar Knights, a new franchise from Kojima Productions. It will be the first time that the game will be available in playable form in Europe. The game has players use two characters with different abilities to fight hordes of vampires with special weapons; it will feature a digital climate, where the top screen will simulate real weather.

Further details of Konami’s exhibition-program will be available shortly.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Tournament

Konami has announced the official tournament for Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence; it will take place between July 29 and September 17. The tournament, which is being sponsored by iGames, will let gamers across North America compete for a chance to win a selection of incredible Metal Gear prizes and bragging rights. Interested gamers will have to register through iGames’ nationwide centers or website.

The tournament will consist of a series of solo and team games in which contestants can participate from home or from iGames centers nationwide. More details:

Tournament matches will be held regularly each weekend, and players can participate in as many matches as they wish. Each player will be rated using the ELO ranking system that judges their overall skill level rather than just wins and losses. The players and teams with the top rating each day will win Metal Gear memorabilia such as shirts, games and accessories, while the players and teams with the best rating over the course of the entire competition will earn entry into a final elimination stage. The team and solo game winners from this stage will become Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence champions and will win prizes such as HDTVs, special in-game awards and rare Metal Gear memorabilia.
