However, it seems that the game is in its “last push” according to the weekly Kojima Productions Report podcast. Assistant producer Ryan Payton revealed that the game is now playable from start to finish and is about to enter the testing phase.
Payton also revealed that they will soon release further information on the game, including its release date, packaging content and various game details.

Kojima Productions at Leipzig
The Games Convention at Leipzig, Germany is shaping up to be quite a treat this year. To be held from August 23 to 27, the convention will see Kojima Productions present five games from the Japanese studio: four Metal Gear titles and Lunar Knights for DS.
Located in Hall 5, Booth F02, Konami will be showcasing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PS3 via a video trailer. It is not known whether it will be the E3 trailer, or a completely new one. Visitors to the convention will also be able to check out Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, a three-disc re-release of the PS2 classic, as well as Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel and Portable Ops, their two new PSP titles.
The Konami stand will also be host to Lunar Knights, a new franchise from Kojima Productions. It will be the first time that the game will be available in playable form in Europe. The game has players use two characters with different abilities to fight hordes of vampires with special weapons; it will feature a digital climate, where the top screen will simulate real weather.
Further details of Konami’s exhibition-program will be available shortly.
Metal Gear Movie in the Works!
Through a comedic blurb on a catalog for Studio Kojima’s upcoming games lineup, Hideo Kojima announced a surprise: a live-action Metal Gear Solid movie is in the works!
Thankfully, Uwe Boll, revered by many as the “worst director”, is not attached to the project, but that a “Class-A” contract has been secured. Here’s quote from Kojima himself:
I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement,” said the revered designer. “False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood.
The party’s name wasn’t mention, or the release date or potential directors. Further details are expected to surface soon.
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Announced
Kojima Production’s secret PSP title has been revealed to be another Metal Gear Solid game for the PSP – this time around, however, it is not based on Acid but will be a real-time action-stealth game.
Dubbed Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, the new game will feature an original storyline that follows the events of MGS3: Snake Eater, as Naked Snake establishes FOXHOUND to hunt down the FOX unit. Set in 1970, the game will be the missing link in the ongoing Metal Gear saga, as players get to learn more about returning characters like Para-Medic, Major Zero and Sigint. The story of the game will feature fully voiced cinmeatics and original artwork by acclaimed illustrator Ashley Wood.
Portable Ops will use an intuitive third-person camera mode optimized for handheld play. This time around, players will be able to recruit comrades to create their own fighting unit. Unique NPCs can be recruited depending on their actions in key situations. Bringing good news to on-the-go gamers, Portable Ops will feature wireless multiplayer, offering various modes and many levels. The multiplayer will see the introduction of a new “White Flag” system that will let players choose to surrender and live to fight again in each round or fight to the death until the next game begins.
No release date for the title was announced.
