Guitar Hero Meets God of War on PS3
In a surprising move, a free track for Guitar Hero 3 will be offered for PS3 gamers on Thursday, June 5. The free track in question will be inspired by God of War, Sony’s insanely awesome action game. This was revealed through a PlayStation Underground mailing from Sony (attached in this post), with no additional details provided.
This may seem odd at first, but Neversoft and Microsoft teamed up for a similar promotion that saw them giving away a free Halo tune for the Xbox 360 edition of the game.
God of War PSP Delayed
Confirming rumors of a delay to the game, Ready at Dawn revealed to Gamespot that God of War: Chains of Olympus will be released on March 4, 2008. The developer also revealed that in addition to the demo disc being sent to those who signed up for it earlier this year, they will also release a second UMD demo of the game, including a section from the Cave of Eos section as well as “making of” footage. No release date was provided for the second demo.
They hope on making the first demo available later this month. It wasn’t revealed how the second demo will be distributed once released.
God of War Trilogy?
Legendary game designer David Jaffe, known best for his work on Twisted Metal and God of War, has updated his blog with details of his work (confirming that he’s still with Sony) and a not-so-surprising bit about the God of War franchise: A GOD OF WAR TRILOGY!!!!
I CAN tell you that God of War 2 is shaping up very, very nicely. I played a bunch of levels last week and it’s really, really fun. The art and music is much better than the first game and there is some damn fine level design going on in the new game. As Cory and I have said to the press, this is the second act of a bigger story. And when you are making a game, you never really know if the game will turn out good enough to merit another one in the series. But after last week, I can say I am very confident of our chances to be able to complete the GOD OF WAR trilogy. You never know, but that’s me just putting it out there.
It’s obvious that nothing is set in stone yet, but the popularity of the original God of War and the hype surrounding the upcoming sequel will make sure that it’ll be flying off store shelves once it hits stores February 2007, thus ensuring the third (and most probably final) game in the violently-gratifying series.
God of War 2 Revealed
There have been stirrings of a God of War sequel on the PS2 recently, what with 1Up reporting that the recent issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine carries word on the supposed sequel.
Now, pictures of the said article from the magazine have popped up online, revealing God of War 2: Divine Retribution, a follow-up on the PS2. The text can’t be read because the pictures are too small, but from the screenshots it looks as if things haven’t changed much.
It is expected that Sony will unveil the game soon, or we’ll have to wait till E3 2006 for more information.
PS3 Games – First Look in OPSM
As 1Up reports, the latest issue of the Official US PlayStation Magazine will have first looks at a number of PlayStation 3 games, including one which hasn’t been announced as of yet.
The cover of the issue is graced by The Darkness, the upcoming next-generation title from Starbreeze, the studio behind the excellent Chronicles of Riddick game. The issue also takes a look at Medal of Honor: Airborne, Stranglehold and Dark Kingdom. Also, 1Up teases us with word that a news item on the “soon-to-be-announced” God of War 2 is in the magazine.
OPSM is now available to subscribers, with newsstand buyers getting it from March 14.
