Duke Nukem Coming to Handhelds, Live-action Duke Searched for

Make way for awesomeness on handhelds, as Apogee Software today announced that Critical Mass, the first entry in the new Duke Nukem trilogy, will arrive on DS and PSP this September.

Developed by Frontline Studios, the action game takes place in the future, while the latter two are respectively set in the modern day and during World War II.

The company additionally announced that it is kicking off a talent search for the “next live-action Duke Nukem actor.” Applicants will be judged on “how well they personify the character’s take-no-prisoners attitude.”

Auditions will be held in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas. Submissions are also being accepted in DVD, tape or Quicktime form, so if you don’t live in those areas, you can still apply.

Sadness Details

There has been a shortage of information on Sadness, Nibris’ upcoming Wii-exclusive horror title, but thanks to the studio, some new details on the game have been sent out.

First up, the Poland-based studio reveals that, due to the scale of the project, they are co-operating with FRONTLINE Studios (for programming) and Digital Amigos (for graphics). As for a publisher, none has been chosen so far; Nibris adds that the list of alleged publishers on the Internet is nothing but a rumor. They also added that no screens or playable demos are going to be published until the chosen publisher decides so.

In a radical move, Nibris announced that Sadness will NOT have any menu. “We aim at completely intuitive behavior of the player – just as in life. Every choice a player makes is essential – if you experience traumatic events in your life, they are in you all the time. The same is going to be with Sadness. We want the player feel he participates in events, not only a game,” said the studio. They also added that the game will use a save system that will be invisible to the player.

As for a release date, the studio had this to offer: Q4 2007. To somewhat-quench that long, LONG wait, they sent out a profile of Werewolves which will be in the game. Details after the jump.
