As part of Namco Bandai’s 2012 financial results, the publisher announced that it has sold over a million copies of Dark Souls in US and Europe. That’s 1.19 million on the PS3 and Xbox 360 to be exact. Sales in Japan aren’t included because it is published there by From Software in collaboration with SCEJ. The tally can only go higher with a pending release on PC later this year.
The company has also sold 1.07 million copies of Ace Combat Assault, 700,000 copies of Dragon Ball Ultimate Blast, and 690,000 copies of Soul Calibur 5.
Although it has been available for almost a year now, From Software will be re-releasing Enchanted Arms for the PS3 early next year. Why wait for a year-old game on the PS3? Well, because it features “large scale” improvements.
According to From Software, the game has undergone a graphical overhaul during the past year – textures are now far sharper, bridging the gap between the game’s graphics and the movie scenes. The story will also receive several new chapters, including a large number of conversational scenes being changed into full demo scenes. There are also multiple character poses and new modeling data to further enhance the characters’ performances.
That’s not all: the game will also see its battle system improved and a large number of new golems have been added. The theme music is also being recreated by a performer called “mink”; background music is also being redone.
Enchanted Arms will hit the PS3 in Japan on January 25. No North American or European release dates have been mentioned.
Various sources are reporting that From Software has cancelled Black Blade and Dark RPG, two of its RPG games for the PS3; both titles were announced at TGS 2005. This comes from Famitsu, which also reports that Armored Core 4 will be a launch title for the PS3.
It may seem like the PS3 is losing many titles, but PS3Land has come up with a list of 200 in-development PS3 titles that is sure to excite many. That list doesn’t even include the many unannounced titles out there.
Proving itself to have good taste, Ubisoft has announced that it will publish Enchanted Arms for the Xbox 360 in Europe. Developed by FromSoftware in Japan, it is the first Japanese RPG for next-generation consoles.
In Enchanted Arms™, players will embark on an epic adventure filled with unique characters and over 75 special controllable creatures that players can unlock as they progress throughout the game. Players will take on the role of Atsuma, an Enchanter-in-training, and will transform from a naïve student to the most powerful saviour in a war 1,000 years in the making. As the story develops, players face increasingly difficult challenges and learn to master Atsuma’s special fighting and magical abilities.
This Summer is the time to look forward to if you want to be Enchanted.
