Heroes (Flying) Over Europe
Red Mile Entertainment sends word that it is publishing Heroes Over Europe, the next installment in its Heroes flight combat franchise. In development at Transmission Games for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, the game will follow the stories of three allied pilots and their actions in the war, from the invasion of France to the devastation of Berlin in 1945.
“‘Heroes of the Pacific’ established Red Mile as a leading publisher in the air combat genre,” said Glenn Wong, President and Chief Operating Officer of Red Mile Entertainment. “Transmission Games is building on the excellent groundwork it laid with the first game, and based on what we’ve seen so far, it looks set to deliver a truly stunning follow-up that will thrill armchair pilots everywhere.”
The game is due out during Fall 2008 for PS3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version shipping soon after in early 2009.
Warhawk 1.2 Update to Add Rumble, New Map Layouts
Warhawk director Dylan Jobe has posted about the upcoming v1.2 patch for the game on the official PlayStation Blog. Slated for release in December, the patch will offer updated gameplay featuring including new map layouts.
“We have found that while a lot of players like playing the really large games, there was a pretty big segment that was playing smaller games,” he wrote. The five new layouts for existing maps will be tailored for matches between four and eight players. They are Eucadia: High City, Island Outpost: Standoff, The Badlands: South City, Destroyed Capitol: Garden Showdown, and Archipelago: Close Corridors.
DualShock 3 rumble support will also be added through the patch. It will also let players purchase game-related content using the game’s internal interface instead of going back to the PS3 XMB PlayStation Store.
A v1.1 update will be made later this month that will offer fixes to gameplay, as well as implement Arbiters.
Cheaper Warhawk Heading to Retail
Newsweek’s N’Gai Croal carries confirmation from Sony that a cheaper edition of Warhawk will be retailing sometime later this month. The company will offer a $39.99 version of the game, the same price point as offered on the PlayStation Store, which does not include the Bluetooth headset offered in the $59.99 bundle.
According to this GameStop listing, the game-only version is set to hit stores on October 10.
New Ace Combat 6 Details
Today marks the release of new details of Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, an upcoming flight-action game for the Xbox 360 from Namco Bandai. The game will feature four unique multiplayer modes with full leaderboard and stat-tracking functionality. The modes are:
Battle Royale: Dodge missiles, blast your opponents and hit the throttle in this frenetic free-for-all battle! Up to 16 players can participate in Battle Royale mode, with the pilot with the highest score at the end of play taking first place.
Team Battle: Put your teamwork to the test as you try to out-maneuver and out-shoot opposing squadrons controlled by other players. Choose from the game’s variety of authentic licensed aircraft to choose the perfect combination of speed, durability, and firepower for your team. Up to 16 players total can play as up to two different squadrons to see who rules the skies in this test of aerial tactics.
Siege Battle: Two teams of up to four players each take turns assaulting and defending a variety of land, sea, and air-based targets in this original online mode. The team that is able to divide and conquer, clearing the targets in the shortest amount of time, will become the winner.
Co-op Battle: Up to four players can compete against computer-controlled enemies in a selection of cooperative missions. Use teamwork, superior firepower, and your ferocious fighting sprit to dominate the skies and complete the mission as quickly as possible.
Additionally, the company also announced that the game will support a wide variety of downloadable content including new color schemes for their planes, super-high difficulty missions, additional multiplayer stages and more.
