BAFTA 2007 Winners Announced
The BAFTA 2007 Video Games Awards winners have been announced, marking a big win for Nintendo with Wii Sports that bagged six of the ceremony’s 15 awards – it was nominated for seven.
Other winners include Okami and God of War 2, both of which walked away with two awards; Crackdown for best action/adventure game and use of audio; and BioShock for best game of the year. Here is the full list of winners.

Golden Joystick Awards Nominees Announced
This year’s Golden Joystick Awards nominees have been announced, marking the 25th anniversary of the UK’s oldest and biggest award ceremony. The second round of shortlist voting has already begun, with users now able to logon to the event’s site and choose their favorites from 17 categories.
Shortlisted nominees this year include Guitar Hero II, GTA 4, Crysis, Okami, God of War 2 and many other games. The ceremony will be hosted by David Mitchell, star of Channel 4’s Peep Show and feature film Magicians, at London’s Park Lane, Hilton hotel on October 26.

Develop Industry Awards Winners Announced
The fifth annual Develop Industry Excellence Awards was held to honor the visionaries behind the greatest games in the gaming industry. Voted for by an independent panel of industry experts, this year’s winners include Motorstorm (PS3), Crush (PSP), Crackdown (Xbox 360) and many other titles. In all, there were 17 different companies and individuals claiming the 18 awards.
Evolution Studio’s PS3-exclusive racer and Zoe Mode’s Crush picked up the best new IP awards, while Traveller’s Tales picked up best indie developer and best use of a license for Lego Star Wars II. Test Drive Unlimited by Eden Games picked up the best use of online award, while Rare’s Viva Pinata grabbed the award for visual arts. Other winners include Sega, Ubisoft, NCSoft and many more. The Game Developer Choice Awards have been announced, with Lord British (Richard Garriott) picking up his lifetime achievement award and Double Fine Productions winning Best New Studio and its game Psychonauts getting the best writing award. Shadow of the Colossus picked up a total of five awards, including Game Design, Character Design and the Best Game award.
In more awards news, the 7th Annual Independent Games Festival awards were announced, with Introversion’s Darwinia winning the grand prize of $20,000 for Best Independent Game. The game picked up three prizes, including the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. Other winners include Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, as well as modifications for games including Dystopia for Half-Life 2, the Last Man Standing Co-op for DOOM 3 and Path of Vengeance for Unreal Tournament 2004, among others.
