Army of Two: The 40th Day Announced
EA has officially announced Army of Two: The 40th Day, the sequel to its co-operative shooter where two people high five each other after massacres.
“With ARMY OF TWO: THE 40th DAY, we’re pushing the tactical two-man military team into new battlegrounds offering a completely organic and rich co-op experience to deliver an action-packed co-op shooter this winter,” says Reid Schneider, Executive Producer, EA Montreal. ”As chaos blankets Shanghai, China, you must rely on your partner to survive as you weave through a broken city left devastated in a mysterious wake.”
The game will have players fighting through ravaged city districts of Shanghai, China, as they try to beat the odds and uncover the secret behind the game’s subtitle. It will feature new co-op moves and more.
Army of Two: The 40th Day will be available for PSP, PS3 and Xbox 360 this winter.

Reuters reports that EA has delayed Army of Two, its cooperative action-shooter that was scheduled for release on November 13. The game is now expected sometime early next year.

Army of Two Gets Release Date
EA today announced that its co-operative action game Army of Two will hit stores November 15 in North America and Europe for PS3 and Xbox 360.
ARMY OF TWO will captivate gamers with a politically charged storyline, centering on the impact and ethical issues of Private Military Corporations. EA Montreal has also enlisted world renowned composer, Trevor Morris, to bring all aspects of the storyline and epic two-man gameplay to life through a powerful soundtrack. Morris has worked on numerous Hollywood blockbuster titles including Black Hawk Down, Bad Boys II, The Last Samurai and Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2.
Developed by EA Montreal, the game will feature gameplay focusing on two-man missions, two-man strategies, two-man tactics and a two-man advantage. The game will feature both offline and online multiplayer co-op, though online is most preferred if you want to get the most out of the game.
New Road Rash, Sims 3, Black Revealed; Crysis, Army of Two Delayed
EA’s conference call saw quite a few surprise announcements, the biggest of which is the revival of the classic Road Rash series. The company revealed that development on The Sims 3 has commenced and that it will be a fiscal 2009 title, which begins on April 1, 2008. It was also stated that another installment in the Sim City series is also in the works, as well as a Simpsons sequel, Sims on Wii and a PS3 version of The Sims 2: Holiday Edition (2006 or 2007 Holiday season).
“There is a new Road Rash game,” an EA executive bluntly stated. No further details were given. It was also stated that a next-gen version of Black is being developed, though it is not clear whether it will be a full-blown sequel or a revamp of the original. As per the executive, it will be a “next-generation version of Black.”
Sad news is there too: those looking forward to Crysis and Army of Two will have to wait longer. Both titles have been delayed to EA’s fiscal 2008, which begins on April 1, 2007. No reason for the delays was given.

Never go into battle alone! EA’s new next-gen boutique development studio is changing the face of how people will play games. Delivering a groundbreaking strategic 3rd person co-op shooter unparalleled in the action genre, EA Montreal’s ARMY OF TWO™ focuses on gameplay centered around TWO man missions, TWO man strategies, TWO man tactics and a TWO man advantage
Today, the United States is awarding an unprecedented number of contracts to Private Military Corporations (PMC) in an effort to maintain its presence worldwide. Since the Vietnam War, this number has increase ten fold and is only rising. As the clear cut flow of the chain of command blurs and the military responsibilities of a nation slipping out of its own control, it is getting hard to tell who really holds the power.
As ex-Army Rangers now turned contractors for a PMC, ARMY OF TWO challenges you to fight along side your team-mate on missions developing and using the combined skills necessary to become the deadliest TWO man military outfit. Whether with a live player or ARMY OF TWO’s unique partner AI, ARMY OF TWO delivers a revolutionary new way to play an action shooter.
From TWO man sniping to parachuting, players will experience action-packed scenarios where they will have to use their wit, strength and an arsenal of shared customizable weapons to successfully defeat their enemies and complete the mission at hand.
On or offline, players can seamlessly transition from AI to a live partner as they fight their way through war, turmoil and a conspiracy so vast it threatens the entire world. When one man is not enough, it’s going to take an army of two to save us.
