Backbreaker Announced

Developers of the euphoria animation technology featured in GTA4 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, NaturalMotion has announced Backbreaker, an American football game being developed exclusively for next-gen consoles. It is slated for release sometime next year.

“Backbreaker is the first football game with truly interactive tackles. By utilizing our motion synthesis engine, euphoria, players will never make the same tackle twice, giving them an intensely unique experience every time they play the game,” said NaturalMotion CEO Torsten Reil. “Backbreaker puts players in the middle of the gridiron by providing a pure, realistic football experience only possible on next-generation consoles.”

Though no screenshots were released, they were sure to send out a nice trailer showing off some backbreaking.

PGR4 Vehicles Revealed, New Screenshots

Microsoft Game Studios and Bizarre Creations today revealed new details on Project Gotham Racing 4. The game will feature an all-new career mode, dynamic weather system and PGR on demand. They also revealed new vehicles that will be in the game:

Six new screenshots have also been released to show off the vehicles. PGR4 is set for release on October 12 for £44.99.


Games for Windows Gains Ubi, Trains

The Leipzig convention is seeing another push by Microsoft at making the PC as a gaming platform. The company announced that Ubisoft has joined the Games for Windows brading program, delivering The Settlers: Rise of an Empire under the brand name.Other publishers have also joined the program including 2K Games, Activision, Atari, EA, LucasArts, Midway and Sega, among others.

Microsoft also announced Train Simulator 2 from its internal studio. The game is expected to be the “most realistic train simulation experience ever” and will allow train enthusiasts to explore the world’s rail network or build their own.

Halo 3 Console Priced, Dated

Microsoft today announced pricing details and availability for the Xbox 360 Halo 3 Special Edition console. Sporting an authentic Spartan green and gold finish, the console will be available starting September 26 for £279.99. It will come with a matching controller, wired headset, gamer pics and theme, HDMI port, play & charge kit, and one month Xbox Live Gold membership, among other things.

Hellgate: London Multiplayer Priced

Word comes from Leipzig that Flagship Studios has announced the pricing structure for the premium multiplayer component for Hellgate: London in Europe.

The game will come with both standard and subscription multiplayer accounts, the former of which is free. Those who wish to have the ability to play co-operatively with thousands of other players, trade items, join guilds and enjoy other benefits including voice chat and buddy lists will have to dish out €9.99/£6.99 per month. Subscribers will also get new game modes, new character classes, areas, monsters, items and raid content.

Hellgate: London is set for release in Europe on November 2.

Nibris and FOG Studios Joins Up

Polish based developer Nibris announced at Leipzig that it has signed FOG Studios as its exclusive representative for interactive development and IP placements.

“We have closely watched how FOG Studios has helped other developers from our region, and from around the world for that matter, achieve a level of success that many teams aspire to, but often don’t reach,” says Nibris CEO Piotr Babieno. “Also the fact that they do not shield their clients from their customers, the publishers, as a way of maintaining their power base, but instead help to facilitate direct and lasting relationships between their clients and customers to create ongoing, self sustaining partnerships. This is the mark of a great partner, and we are proud to be working with them.”

Both companies are currently showcasing their products at the Games Convention.

Call of Duty 4 Release Date, Guitar Hero III International Tracks and New James Bond

The Games Convention is bringing out the best in all publishers. Activision has announced the worldwide release date for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – November 5. It will be released for the PS3, PC and Xbox 360, with a DS version also coming.

The company additionally revealed an international track list for Guitar Hero III. The list includes a diverse assortment of hits from across the globe, that include all master tracks from the following artists:

  • Hier Kommt Alex (by Die Toten Hosen)
  • In the Belly of a Shark (by Gallows)
