Today’s Demos and Patches

Today’s first demo comes from Certain Affinity, who offers a playable peek at Age of Booty, their casual real-time strategy title. It’s a 103 MB download from AtomicGamer, ComputerGames.ro, FileFront, Gamer’s Hell and Strategy Informer.

The second demo is of Project Aftermath, which was recently updated to v1.16. The updated demo can be downloaded from AtomicGamer, FileFront, Gamer’s Hell, and Gamesonice, whereas the manual patch can be grabbed from FileFront and Gamer’s Hell.

Today’s last patch is of Grand Ages: Rome, which has been updated to v1.10. This version includes difficulty adjustments, UI improvements, multiplayer fixes and more. Grab it from AtomicGamer, FileFront, Gamer’s Hell, Gamesonice, Strategy Informer and The Patches Scrolls.

New MotorStorm Demo Live

Missed the first MotorStorm: Pacific Rift demo? Well, Sony has heard you, as they have made available a new demo for the racing sequel that offers both single and multiplayer modes.

The demo features the Razorback track, chosen by the veterans from the game’s forums as their favorite from the 16 tracks included in the game. You will be able to race alone or against the AI, or challenge your friend in 2-player split-screen. There are three different race classes – bike, buggy and monster truck – all of which are available in the demo.

The PS3-exclusive racer is now available in stores.

Resident Evil 5 Demo Announcement Coming Soon

A playable demo for Resident Evil 5 may be announced soon, according to game producer Jun Takeuchi.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Takeuchi mentioned that an announcement is coming “relatively soon”; he also mentioned that downloadable content for the game is also “possible,” though he wouldn’t elaborate.

He also talked about the hard drive install for the PS3 version of the game, noting that they are paying attention to player feedback from Devil May Cry 4, adding that they are coming up with “something that users will not criticize, but love.”

The game is due out sometime next year on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The only demo released today was a playable preview for Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode One of On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, a game based on the popular webcomic. Grab it from Playgreenhouse, AtomicGamer, FileFront and Gamer’s Hell.

GRID Demo Surpasses 1M Downloads

The recently released Race Driver: Grid playable demo has been downloaded over one million times, says Codemasters. The demo was launched on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on May 8.

They are currently having a competition using the demo to give players the chance to win a brand new BMW 3 Series car. All one has to do is beat the Fastest Final Lap Challenge for a shot at the car. The final date for playing is May 23.

No LittleBigPlanet Demo This Year

The promised demo for LittleBigPlanet, the cute sandbox game that is in development at Media Molecule for the PS3, will not appear this year, according to SCEA PR Manager Ron Eagle who confirmed this to MTV.

“I can officially confirm that there won’t be a demo this year,” Eagle told Totilo, as reported on MTV’s Multiplayer blog.

He said that the game is still on schedule for release next year and that more of the game will be shown off in January. Eagle also claims that he has played through 60% of the game’s 50 pre-designed levels.

Blacksite, Orange Box Demos, PSU Expansion on Xbox Live

A second demo for Blacksite: Area 51, the upcoming shooter sequel to the Nevada military base alien infestation, has been released via Xbox Live. It weighs in at 988MB and offers two levels from the game’s single-player campaign. The full game itself is already available in stores for PC and Xbox 360, with a PS3 version coming soon.

In more demo news, a playable sneak peek for The Orange Box is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace, offering people a sampling of Half-LIfe 2: Episode Two. It’s a 724MB download. Interestingly, Valve refers to this as the first one, indicating that demos of Portal and Team Fortress 2 are also in the making. It is currently not known whether a PC demo will be released or not.

The other major new piece of content to be added to the service was a 1.92GB expansion pack for Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus. It adds new areas, missions, enemies, items and more for use in both single and multiplayer modes. The add-on is selling for 1600 Microsoft points.

Crysis Demo; NVIDIA Updated Drivers

Finally, the single-player demo of Crysis is now available for download. It is a huge 1.77GB download from 3D Downloads, 4players.de, ActionTrip, AusGamers, ComputerGames.ro, eXp.de, FileFront, Fragland, FileShack, FanGaming, FilePlanet, Gameguru Mania, Gamer’s Hell, Internode Games Network, OnlineWelten and PixelRage

This NVIDIA page offers beta 169.01 drivers for the Crysis demo. It is recommended

to apply the driver before playing the demo, as it has been optimized specifically for that game.
