Better make sure your friends are picking up Diablo 3, because you’ll need the Guest Pass that comes with it to enjoy the game for free. Well, actually it’s a glorified demo, allowing gamers to play Act 1 up to the Skeleton King, and up to a maximum character level of 13.
Freeloaders will get access to the matchmaking feature, too, though it will only be with other ‘Starter Edition’ players. Oh, and you won’t be able to use the Real Money Auction House either.
Blizzard also announced the impending launch of ‘Character Profiles’. It helps track and present your progress in the game. You will be able to see your heroes and their skills and equipment. The studio also has plans to display artisans and achievements.
There haven’t been many playable demos for PC lately, so it’s nice and refreshing to see studios still cater for the platform seriously. Having said that, Crypstone Games has released a demo for Star Prospector, their recently released real-time strategy title.
It offers full access to the title’s features, and opens up all missions that are available in the first star system. Those looking for replayability won’t be disappointed: all the missions are randomly generated.
The developer offers regular download links, but you can save their bandwidth by grabbing the 156MB demo through this torrent. It’s hosted on a fast seedbox, so you won’t be disappointed. Seeding is highly appreciated.
PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers have impaled, kicked, shot and generally had a fun time for a month in the Bulletstorm demo while PC gamers were moping in the corner. Thankfully, Epic Games has announced a cure: there’s a PC demo in the works!
Company co-founder Mark Rein announced through Twitter that despite it being made, the demo won’t ship until after the full game is released today.
The PC demo will feature the same content as the console version that offered a glimpse of the single-player campaign.
Meanwhile, Best Buy is offering a special deal for those who get the Epic Edition of the game: you can get Gears of War Triple Pack for an extra $5 only. The pack includes the two installments in the series and a token to download the additional DLC.
If you haven’t already played the Xbox 360 demo or the leaked beta then you finally have something to look forward to: the multiplayer PC demo for Crysis 2. Starting March 1, the demo will be available from EA and offer two maps and two modes.
Crysis 2’s multiplayer pits players in six vs. six matches on “Skyline” and “Pier 17”. The two modes are “Team Instant Action” (team deathmatch) and “Crash Site” (domination).
The full game has six gameplay modes and 12 maps. It comes out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 25.
You’ll be moving with the rhythm this coming Tuesday as the demo for Patapon 3 will hit PlayStation Network. And to make things even better, PlayStation Blog notes that it will be a multiplayer demo – a sampling of Internet multiplayer will be included.
Thankfully, you won’t need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to download this. Clear some space on your memory stick for this piece of gold.

Meanwhile, The Eye of Judgment players are out of luck as the PlayStation Eye-enabled game will have its online support ended on September 30. The game is now over three years old, and this closure is not a surprise considering the abysmal support it has received since its release.
The Aussies finally get a break! The country’s ratings board, the OFLC, has classified Dead Rising 2 for release with an MA15 rating. The good news? It will be released uncut and unedited. The game is due out at the end of September on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Let your inner psychopaths out – a demo for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is now available on Xbox Live. Only for some, though, as the “exclusive” demo requires a code to access.
Getting the code isn’t so hard – there are three ways you can get it. First off, sign up at the game’s website. Second: stare at your Xbox 360 dashboard, you might get a chance “soon”. Finally, check 1UP to test your luck at getting 1 of 1,000 codes.
The single-player demo takes place at a restaurant in Shanghai. There’s also some multiplayer action.
Not many developers offer demos for their PSP games. Koei makes itself an exception today, as they announced that a playable demo of Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce is now available exclusively on PlayStation Network.
The PSP demo lets players team-up or fight alone on their quest to slay a monster. It offers a sample of the gameplay to be found in the full game which is due to hit stores beginning the week of April 28.
Telltale Games sent word that Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures, the new comedy game series based on the popular claymation duo, will premiere for PC on March 24. Episodes will be delivered monthly from the studio’s website; it will also be available from Xbox Live Arcade soon.
The four episodes will feature four brand new stories, setting the earnest inventor and his faithful canine companion embarking on new adventures. A demo offering a sampling of what’s to come has been released exclusively through Yahoo.
As a special preorder offer, those who get the full, four episode series on PC before March 23 will receive a 25% discount off the regular $34.95 price. Customers who preorder will also receive two free bonus episodes, one from Sam & Max and the other from Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People.
