Breaking the pricing convention of triple-A Xbox 360 games, Atari today announced that Test Drive Unlimited will retail for $40 when released. “Innovation should be available to everyone, not a privilege for those who can afford high price tags,” said the financially ailing publisher’s CEO Bruno Bonnell.
In addition to the above, the company also laid out plans for post-release support, stating that they begin releasing “car packs” six weeks after launch on Xbox Live Marketplace. Test Drive Unlimited will ship with 90 vehicles, but players clamoring for more can download the packs which will feature six or more cars complete with genre-specific radio stations, with each featuring between 10-20 songs. These packs will be released monthly.
